Some of our breed clubs aren’t having a great deal of luck with the weather on their chosen show dates - let’s hope it improves for the championship show season and especially for Crufts.
Last Sunday saw the first open show of the new South West Corgi Club, formed by the amalgamation of the West of England and Devon and Cornwall clubs. Pem judge was Debbie Stansbury.Secretary Carole Turner reports that they had an entry of 36 dogs with a surprising number of exhibitors turning up despite the weather.
BOB was Sandra Webb's tri bobtail Corland Nighthawk (Nebriowa Skidaddle ex Pemcader Picture Puzzle); BOS Becky May's Barawood Spirito Libero (Int/Dutch Ch Beaudy ex Barawood Soul Singer) whose breeder Dawn Woodey took BP with her bobtail tri Elmsmere Steal A Star for Barawood (Cottivy Skyfall ex Elmsmere Stolen Star).
BV was Sandra’s Cottonfields Perseus (Ch Pemcader Belroyd Zeus ex Brynlluan Midnight Glow over Cottonfields).
The inaugural AGM, held before the show, confirmed Carole as secretary and Richard Froggatt as chairman.
The Southern California club held a double specialty with the first day judged by Marilyn Van Vliet (Aurora). Thanks to Sarah Woodling Houle for the results.
BOB was Pat Seifert and Carol Gentry’s black headed tri dog Ch Graceland Cattal’s Phantom Dancer at Caamora (Ch Caamora Gandy Dancer RN HSAs ex Ch Graceland Rock Candy at Calloway) with BOS to Tammie Sommerson-Wilcock, Cindy and Vince Savioli’s Ch Aubrey’s Mama Can’t Buy You Love (Aubrey’s Irish Lullaby ex Ch Aubrey Swindon In My Easter Bonnet).
Our own Kevin Dover (Pemcader) judged the second day, choosing for BOB DeDe Rodgers and Mary Greenwood’s bitch GCh Greenwoods Sparkling Diamond (Ch Greenwoods Midnight Flyer ex Ch Sandfox Greenwoods Chances Are). BOS was Liisa Coit’s tri GCh Rosewood Sea Quest (GCh Martindale Black Bart ex GCh Rosewood Sea Shell) who was only entered that day.
Southern Counties schedule lists our judge as ‘to be announced’. The announcement has now been made and awarding CCs in the breed for the first time in the UK will be Annukka Paloheimo Segersven (Anncourt Cavaliers and King Charles), the all-breed judge from Finland who lived in the UK for a number of years.
